Dear Editor,

The latest contributions to this thread, from Becker and Thurman, make me wonder what arguments (on the validity of same-sex intimacy) could ever satisfy opponents of 01-A. You can't use Scripture because you're misusing
it. You can't quote non-biblical writers because they have no relevance. You can't speak of love because you clearly don't understand it. You can't appeal to human experience. All the doors of reasonable discourse are shut. It's like defendants in a courtroom where the rules of evidence are so strict that they can say nothing in their own favor. Perhaps that's why gays themselves choose to speak so little in these debates. And as the talking continues God sits by in unobtrusive silence. God revealed, yet also strangely hidden (Isaiah 45:15). "New loves blossom from the eternal love," says an old poet. What an invitation it is to participate in such love.
