To the editor: The problem we have as a church is not whether homosexual persons are monogamous or celibate but whether they are continuing in sin to the destruction of their own souls and to the detriment and defilement of the body of Christ, the church ( I Corinthians 6:12-20). Is it not presumption that God would bless male and male or woman and woman sexual relationships thereby binding Christ to such sexual degradation? Where are the precedents that have been set in the Bible for such presumptions? Will the PCUSA presume to set such precedents? It is apparent that English is not the language PCUSA leadership understands, whether King James or the New English version; indeed, the original Hebrew and Greek texts elude their understanding. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that it matters not what version or translation homosexual advocates read, their private interpretation renders scripture null and void. Our battle is not on a level of interpreting what the Bible says but discerning what is said by means of the Holy Spirit's indwelling presence in our hearts. Scripture is clear that there are those who will call evil good and good evil. Is this debate not evidence of the fulfilment of that prophecy on the stage of world and church history, and alas, even in the pulpits and pews of PCUSA churches today? In Christ, Glenda L.
