To the Editor:

If I declared that I refused to ordain women to my Session is it appropriate for another pastor in a neighboring Presbyterian Church to file charges against me or do they have to see me not ordain a woman first? I would argue that the "connectional" nature of our denomination insists that I have the responsibility as well as right to police my neighbors. As Rev. Hager should know our vows state that we will "abide" by our polity not "abide by what we like and stick our nose up at what we don't like".

I want to say that I personally find her tone of voice to be not only offensive but bordering on hysterical. Perhaps she should up her medication. I hope she found that last sentence extremely upsetting and insulting because that is exactly how I found her entire letter. Oh, By the way it's not HER church it's Christ's church, has been and always will be... maybe if she'd gotten a reformed education at a seminary she'd have known that.

I'll try not to feel too ashamed that she is a part of the denomination that I happen to serve.

Alan Wilkerson, pastor
Kenton United Presbyterian Church
Portland, OR.
