Dear Editor:

Daniel Berry writes "Christ will crush all adversaries under his feet at the last day". But the scriptures are not so triumphalist. Following this event we are told "when he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all." 1 Cor 15:28 In this story it is God who reigns and everything including our religion, the church, and even the Son are subject to God's good and wider purposes. Too often this ordering gets missed by conservatives in the church today.
