Dear Editor:

Goodness me, is Viola Larson angry at the Rev. Dr. R. Milton Winter!

Unfortunately she read more into his essay than he wrote.

In the interests of full disclosure, Dr. Winter and I were contemporaries in seminary, and I knew him personally as a fine biblical theologian and impeccable scholar.

Further, I read his essay carefully, and I could not find the errors Elder Larson imputed to him.

Elder Larson actually typifies in her polemic many of the problems we evangelicals have. We anger easily and unjustly. We listen poorly, if at all. And, by golly, we are always right!

Except when we are wrong. In Elder Larson's attack on Dr. Winter, she is wrong.

Dr. Winter, please accept my apology for this unwarranted and mean-spirited attack.

Peace to you,

Joseph Cejka, Ph.D.
Member at Large, Presbytery of San Joaquin
