Dear Editor:

The article from the Kansas City Star by Andrew Comiskey ["Christian community can transform homsexuals"] is very revealing and worth pondering. The power of God – Father, Son, and Holy Ghost – can indeed transform people's lives and reshape them into the kind of people God intends them to be.

What the proponents of the "gay agenda" miss is the fact that behavior can be changed. Will gay and lesbian people still struggle with gender issues and sexual orientation during and after they abandon homosexuality? They quite possibly will. But behavior can change and the desires of the heart can be transformed.

We need not accept a pattern of behavior or a way of thinking about ourselves just because this is the way we are. We can change from the way we are to the way God wants us to be! This is true for all of us regarding a variety of issues which have nothing to do with sexual orientation or behavior. It is more convenient, at least in the short term, and more politically correct to go with the flow of a relativized culture and dismiss the teachings of Scripture. Ultimately however, this path will lead to disaster--for the individual, for the church, and for western civilization! But it won't ultimately defeat the will of God--and in that alone, I take comfort.
