Welcome to Presbyweb! We are glad you found us. We look forward to serving you often and for a long time to come!

Presbyweb is The Daily News for Presbyterians. However, we aim much higher than reporting Presbyterian news. Our mission is "to chronicle the life and mission of the Church of Jesus Christ everywhere."

On Presbyweb you will find "All the National Presbyterian News", "from left to right", official and unoffical, plus important U.S. and worldwide news of and for the Church, including news and opinions about the Church's interaction with the cultures in which it lives and works.

We do have an agenda: be as impartial, objective and fair as is humanly possible.

As far as the PC(USA) news (official and unofficial) is concerned, we do not strive to be balanced, but to be complete. If we find a news item or opinion that is clearly one-sided, we don't wait until there is something else to provide balance, and we don't ask other people to provide it. Maybe we will find a different viewpoint on the issue tomorrow, maybe not. We report what we find when we find it. As a daily reader of Presbyweb you will miss nothing of the National Presbyterian (PCUSA) News – and Presbyweb gives it to you "raw", just as when you would visit all these sites yourself. We simply save you time. We always provide a link to "the horse's mouth." We also post unsolicited viewpoints, columns and letters.

For the U.S. and worldwide news about the Church we obviously have to make a selection. We strive to report all sides of a story and have all viewpoints represented, not necessarily in one article or in one day, but over time.

Presbyweb actively monitors all Presbyterian pages with a national flavor that are updated regularly. We list these monitored pages with a short description and a link to their home page.

Under Other Presbylinks you find descriptions of pages, plus links, of entities, ministries and groups that have a national character but are updated infrequently. Also included are links to pages of congregations, presbyteries and synods, as well as to other pages of general interest to Presbyterians.

We also monitor hundreds of other web sites every day in search of non-Presbyterian news about the Church. We strive not to miss any important news of the church.

Read through the descriptions of the sites mentioned under Monitored Pages and Other Presbylinks and you get an interesting education about the Presbyterian Church (USA)! Something for confirmation classes?

The purpose of  Presbyweb is to serve the whole Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in the Spirit of Christ, to the glory of God and the furtherance of the peace, unity and purity of the Church,

Presbyweb is an independent publication. Founder and editor is Hans Cornelder, a native of the Netherlands, who moved to the USA in 1987. He is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Hans started Presbyweb out of frustration. Attempting to find out what was new on all those PCUSA pages made it necessary to go on a fishing expedition and catch nothing on most sites. It made him sigh, "Somebody should make a page telling us What's New on PC(USA) Web Pages Today!" He ended up doing it himself, and that was the simple beginning of Presbyweb. Soon he decided that the focus should not be so narrow, so he started adding news about the church in ever-widening circles. Presbyweb now reports on the entire worldwide church. No publication is more inclusive and ecumenical. Here you find news and voices from the entire spectrum.

Presbyweb started in May 1998. We have 6 editions per week, Monday through Saturday, plus special editions when warranted (e.g. during General Assemblies).

During the first 5 years we offered Presbyweb for free, but when it was no longer feasible to do the work on a volunteer basis, we started to ask our readers to buy a subscription. A free trial subscription for a full month is offered without obligation. See our subscription page.

Presbyweb is an independent publication. It does not receive money from our denomination, and does not solicit donations.

We appreciate feedback! And if you find it in your heart to alert other Presbyterians to the existence of Presbyweb (email, mouth-to-mouth, church newsletters, presbytery publications, links), we will be grateful for that, too!

May the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you!
